Declan Shalvey and Andrea Broccardo continue to knock it out of the park with their brilliant Alien comic.
It’s unquestionably the best the franchise has looked and felt at Marvel, after a promising start faltered into some poor art and dull writing with the first Alien releases from them.
In this issue, the family are finally making their way back to each other as Weyland Yutani’s personnel struggle to deal with the increasing Xenomorph threat. True to form though, the situation is about to get even worse for absolutely everyone…
Though the narrative feels a little like it barely moves on from the events of last issue, by its devastating ending, it’s clear that there’s a lot to be overcome if we’re expecting a happy ending.
Yet, can we really expect things to work out for the best, especially in the dark, often hopeless Alien universe?
We shall see – once more though, Andrea Broccardo’s art is a phenomenal complement to Declan Shalvey’s nicely written script; there’s an artistic, stylishly dynamic flair here that was completely missing from Marvel’s prior Alien series.
