There may be much more to the nursing home that meets the eye, as the bedridden, horrifically disfigured director reveals a stunning secret about his lost horror masterpiece.

As the pieces of the film that have been uncovered play out – with the narrative switching between the real world and the celluloid nightmare – it seems that the reels were lost for a reason.

And the Ghouls are coming…

This has been a really creepy, very well executed horror comic so far.

The shifts between narratives – and the visual styles – are well handled both from the point of view of Scott Snyder’s script and Francesco Francavilla’s brilliant art.

The premise is original enough that the story is pretty unpredictable; so it’s filled with neat little moments that really get under your skin – including an unsettling cliffhanger.

I’m not sure why it took me so long to get on board with Night of the Ghoul, but just like the lost horror movie in the story, I’m glad I’ve stumbled upon it now – even if it’s a little late!
