Writer Ed Brisson’s second Predator series comes to a close in this fifth issue.

Having escaped the Yautja game reserve they were all trapped on, the humans now have to contend with the Predator that’s tracked them down. Can Theta and the others take down the deadly Yautja and make their way back to civilisation?

This climax lays on the action thick and fast, with copious amounts of gore along the way.

Though it can be a little too frantic at times – losing a bit of clarity in the storytelling of the action sequences – it’s a fitting end to the series, leaving the big picture nicely open ended so that the story can continue.

I’ve been very impressed with how well handled the Predator universe has been in both this and the previous series; Ed Brisson has certainly done a great job of giving readers much more satisfying stories than most of the Predator movies have.

It still feels strange to me that the Alien comics from Marvel have been so inconsistent in quality, but so far their Predator comics have not fallen prey to the same fate.

Long may it continue – I’m definitely looking forward to revisiting the universe that’s been created in these Predator stories once more.
