The cryptid protagonist of Bigfoot Knows Karate – from creators Dan Price and Casey Allen – is a much more articulate creature than you may be expecting.
That is, unless you read the fantastic first issue; it had plenty of dramatic action beats and successfully sold its main character as a heroic and determined, if somewhat reclusive, protector.
That reclusiveness was perhaps borne out of necessity too, seeing as a shady organisation is out to get our hero – for a seriously nefarious purpose.
In this issue, we’re introduced to more cryptids – and more of the antagonistic human organisation’s agents, too.
As with the first issue, the action is brilliantly rendered and suitably vicious; as the plans for our hirsute hero unfold, the violence and gore increases too.
The twist of a verbose, martial artist cryptid hero taking on evil humans is brilliantly done; this is a superb continuation of the story – which leaves the reader desperate to read the next chapter.
Which, handily, is coming soon.
In fact, chapter three is on Kickstarter now – and you can check it out, as well as back it, here.
Check out the Bigfoot Knows Karate online store if you want to go back to the beginning (and maybe score yourself some cool merch too!).
Many thanks to the publishers for providing me with a copy of Bigfoot Knows Karate #2 for review purposes.
