The first crossover between two characters who make a natural, logical pair of opponents continues, in Predator vs Wolverine #2.
Logan’s team came under attack from the Yautja many years ago – and, with the story jumping around different time periods, it seems that he and the Predators have encountered each other numerous times. Death and destruction seems to follow them around too.
It’s surprisingly graphic and gory for a Marvel comic; both Wolverine and the Predator lending themselves well to a script that pulls no punches and goes for the jugular at every opportunity.
The time skipping is a neat conceit; with his healing powers, no one expects Logan/Wolverine to be bested by Yautja/Predator, but of course many other people can and will be caught in the crossfire of the decades-long battles between them.
Thank goodness there’s no Greg Land art in this issue; instead, we’re treated to sterling work from the ever reliable Andrea Di Vito, along with Ken Lashley and Hayden Sherman; each artist tackling a different time period in the story.
It’s a cracking read that moves at a very fast pace, with an awful lot of carnage making it to the page.
Overall, this is a fantastic continuation of the great opening issue – and, though it’s long overdue, it’s great that Marvel have waited to give us the Predator/Wolverine crossover we deserve, rather than just rush out a series for the sake of it.
