Our two protagonists, both jailed, are freed – and now begins the task of escaping a planet on which seemingly everyone, everywhere is out to get them.
No one can be trusted – perhaps not even their rescuers.
Meanwhile, the characters more familiar from the Transformers franchise – such as the Quintessons – are also searching for the planets our protagonists come from.
This issue of Void Rivals ends up feeling a bit repetitive; sure, our protagonists are escaping, but there’s more double crossing and also more teasing of the integration with the Transformers, which has just become a bit more tiresome than exciting at this point.
So while it’s not an outright bad read, it’s certainly not paying off on the promise of its first few issues, which is a bit of a shame.
