After failing to stop the Adana and seeing the world – as well as his friends – start to pay a terrible price, Blade’s desperation leads him to turn to a very unlikely ally: Dracula.

This is a bit of an odd issue; both vampire and Daywalker seem to trust and work together a little too easily, even if they do clash a bit, philosophically, over the course of what is basically an extended training montage.

It all feels a bit too convenient and smooth, not helped by the fact that the Adana is out there, apparently laying waste to civilisation, yet we see nothing beyond Blade taking time out to be trained by Dracula.

Even the cliffhanger had me rolling my eyes a bit; we’re just being set up for another guest star; one who feels shoehorned in before he’s even properly arrived – and it feels like a way to try and sell more comics, in honesty.

It’s a shame, because I’ve hugely enjoyed Bryan Edward Hill’s Blade until now.

Failing to stop the final boss was a ballsy move, but this issue feels like it’s treading water instead of dealing with the aftermath properly. Let’s hope the next issue helps to get the story back on track.
