Though I wasn’t overly enamoured with the pun heavy Jurassic League, which put a prehistoric spin on the heroes and villains of DC, Daniel Warren Johnson also wrote and drew the phenomenal sci fi/fantasy wrestling saga, Do A Powerbomb – which I adored.

His work on Transformers so far has been stunning too, taking the series back to basics with a classic cast and authentic, action packed feel – yet featuring neat twists and a modern approach to the characters that works beautifully.

In this issue, the Autobots are able to start reviving some of their friends, but the problem is that the Decepticons seem to be doing the same thing with their own allies.

As always, the action scenes are dynamic and kinetic; they also have a real clarity despite how busy and frenetic they can sometimes be.

As a long term, huge Transformers fan who hasn’t always enjoyed the directions the franchise has been taken in, I’m really glad that the newly relaunched series seems to be in safe hands.
