After the sexy, witty and unpredictable first issue of Census, I couldn’t resist coming back to read the next issue pretty damn quickly.
And, just like the previous issue, it’s an awful lot of fun.
In this issue, Liam is sent out to document some more magical creatures; the opening scene is a blast, with him surrounded by unruly Leprechauns.
And then he has another mythical being to track down, but just who or what is he going to find in a bodega?
Honestly, Census is such a breath of fresh air.
It’s really wittily written by Marc Bernardin and Adam Freeman, with wonderful art by Sebastian Piriz, who gets to flex his wings a lot more and take us on quite the visual journey in this issue.
Including to a very uncomfortable few situations in the bathroom (don’t worry, it’s not disturbing or anything, which I know that description may imply; it’s all in the name of a few jokes, as well as a killer punchline to end the issue).
So yes, Census is a great read, and it hasn’t taken long at all for the somewhat leftfield concept to find its feet, and take us through a neat little done in one tale.
