Could it be? Has Atari Force finally worked out its issues and become a good read?
Well, it’s still not perfect, but the sprawling cast of characters, all spread out in the universe with their own motivations and plots, are coming together and it actually, at last, makes sense.
There’s still a few issues. Christopher Champion, aka Tempest, really is a bit of a dick.
So is his dad, Martin Champion, the leader of the original Atari Force; however, this is actually pretty interesting, given that he’s cast in somewhat of a villainous role after being the hero of the series of comics that were bundled in with actual Atari video games.
The world building is still just not up to par either, but it’s definitely making progress in this fourth issue.
It’s been slow going and the comic has little to do with Atari or its games, but as an original, Guardians of the Galaxy-style space adventure it’s definitely on the right track now.
