Having escaped captivity, Darak and Solila are attempting to make their way across a very hostile landscape. Meanwhile, a deadly hunter is about to be on their trail, so it won’t just be the environment they’re trying to survive.
This issue seems to just ignore and drop the Transformers connection entirely, which (as much as I love Transformers) is definitely for the best. To a certain extent, it’s always felt a bit shoehorned in, either for shock value (in the first issue, for example, where it was a completely unexpected twist) or simply to try and keep hold of the crossover readers who have been picking Void Rivals up because it might feature Autobots, Decepticons or even (this is a deep cut!) Quintessons.
So this felt like one of the more satisfying issues of the series so far, with some really intriguing developments; though it has also felt like Void Rivals has been treading water a bit overall, issue 7 does finally feel more interesting, at least.
