The time has come for Darak and Solila to part ways, though it should only be a temporary separation. Meanwhile, clandestine scheming, involving the leaders of both societies, is becoming fractious, and there’s something else out there in the dark.
I’ve had my issues with Robert Kirkman’s Void Rivals, but recently it’s been pretty strong and he’s done a much better job of bringing the story to the Transformers (sorry, Energon) Universe in a more cohesive way. There’s an aside in this issue that once more feels as if it’s just from a separate story altogether, so it seems the sometimes clumsy meshing of the different elements is still not quite there.
However, this is a great issue regardless, with a close focus on Darak and Solila, who have genuinely come to respect one another. It’s sad to see them part ways, but in doing so, it’s clear that there’s going to be some pretty big things for them to deal with, which is exciting.
Inconsistent it may be, but Void Rivals is still worth keeping up with, as there’s a great story being told here, despite the sometimes-awkward shared universe elements.
