Set in an alternate mid-2000s, in which supernatural beings have been emerging from portals to other dimensions for the last few decades, Raise Hell tells the story of three teenage friends who summon their own little demonic friend.
The problem they have is that their demon, Ali, is bound to them in such a way that he can’t leave their side; he’s sort of physically tethered to them too.
Though demonic beings are allowed to go to school, Ali is more of a familiar; as familiars have been found to distract students, he’s not allowed on school grounds. So what happens when they have to go back to school after the summer?
I’ll tell you what happens: shenanigans.
This is another excellent issue of Raise Hell, which has a unique premise and a gently amusing tone. This issue is surprisingly eventful too, with the backstory of one of our central trio becoming somewhat important, as we learn a bit more about the witches that exist in this unusual, yet familiar, world.
It’s a shame that Amazon have all but dismantled the incredible Comixology app over the last few years, as unique indie titles such as Raise Hell have become a lot harder to stumble upon. However, it’s well worth seeking out!
Raise Hell is a Comixology exclusive; you can check out and download the second issue from Amazon here.
