The adventures of Kobra Olympus, a young Iranian student who receives her missions in the form of messages from the future, continue. Though Kobra fights against dastardly vampires as her alter ego, Agent Tha, many of Kobra’s biggest challenges come from balancing her exciting, action packed superheroics with havung a normal, everyday life as a queer woman in the modern world.

Paying tribute to the cheesy comic style of the Golden Age (the 1940s, or thereabouts), when I covered the first issue I found the dialogue and exposition a little on the clunky side at times. However, fully tuned into its deliberate homage style, I found it much less so in this second issue. There’s some fun, quippy fight scenes and an appealing cast of friends for Agent Tha to fight alongside too, and there’s some lovely, down to earth moments with them all outside of the action and heroics. minimally detailed, often mono-coloured backdrops.

The art style also evokes those classic 40s comics, and the issue as a whole is undeniably charming and sweet, with a refreshing, admirable focus on underrepresented and diverse characters.
