This issue opens up with a surprising connection to GI Joe; of course, given that Void Rivals was built on the kind of shock reveals that tied it into the Energon Universe (encompassing, at present, Transformers, GI Joe and, of course, Void Rivals itself), perhaps it was just a matter of time.
However, the ongoing story of Void Rivals is best when its focusing on being it’s own thing, and there’s plenty of great development in this issue, with some genuine revelations about the rift between Zertonians and Agorrians.
It’s good stuff, even though there’s a few too many scenes with characters from elsewhere; the pace could definitely be picked up at this stage, and it could be an awful lot stronger, if it wasn’t for all the peripheral Energon Universe characters jostling for attention.
