Lily and T. Hawk, members of the Thunderfoot tribe, are travelling to a sacred site for a ritual involving an ancestral relic. With a Shadaloo representative on site, Lily and T. Hawk find themselves coming up against a dire supernatural threat, which threatens the safety of their village, and possibly even the world itself.
Introduced in Street Fighter 6, I have to say I wasn’t familiar with Lily at all prior to reading this comic, but it does a great job of introducing the plucky young fighter alongside a familiar face or two. I’m a big fan of the Street Fighter comics, as my regular readers will know, and UDON always treat the license with the greatest of respect.
That’s no different here, with a fun tale that showcases the close bond between Lily and the more world weary warrior, T. Hawk, not to mention her relationship with her heritage too.
The art is up to the usual, gorgeous standards you know to expect from UDON, and the fight scenes positively pulse with dynamic energy, as always.
It doesn’t disappoint in the quieter moments either; I’m often surprised at how compelling these one-shots can be, even when I don’t have any prior knowledge of the characters, and I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed Street Fighter Masters: Lily #1.
Next up, but not until next year, is a one-shot featuring Elena, who I do know of, having read just about all of the main Street Fighter comics from UDON over the years. She’s still a bit enigmatic though, so, like Lily, I’m looking forward to her getting her time in the spotlight without having to share it!
