Is it me, or has the wait for the tenth issue of anthology comic, Quantum, felt interminably long?
For once, it’s not just me being impatient, as the issue opens with an explanation for its delay by editor, Steve Tanner, and it’s perfectly understandable given the number of pieces that need to be in place to get Quantum out and into the hands of eager readers, even on a bi-monthly schedule. Still, all good things come to those who wait, eh? And a new issue of Quantum is always a good thing, so let’s take a look at what you’ll find in the final issue of 2024.
Humour strip Dave vs AI is first up, with a tale about too much jam, which also answers the question of how too much jam can also be not enough jam. Mmmm, jam.
Major Rakhana is next; with a surprising turn of events. Not known for being one to back down from a fight, no matter how the odds are stacked against her, the Major surrenders.
WesterNoir fills in some of Luther’s backstory, with a dark, shocking tale of a monster encounter.
Cover story, The Very Strange Reappearance of Peter Thomson, sees Peter having become part of his dream girl’s life, but not in the way he wanted.
Finally, London is under attack, but by who, and what do they want? More importantly, can The Clockwork Cavalier put a stop to their reign of terror?
As always, Quantum is a consistently excellent read, with an impressive variety of tones, styles and genres in its strips; let’s just hope the stars align so that we’re not waiting so long for the next issue, eh?
Quantum can be found in WH Smith in the UK, as well as in other comic shops and newsagents nationwide. Or you can subscribe via Patreon here, and get access to bonus goodies too!
