The third issue of Dynamite’s fresh new Terminator comics contains the second (and final) part of a story with the Vietnam War as its setting. Private Duggan is on his way out of the country with his wife and child, but a Terminator is on his tail, and as we know is the case with Terminators: they absolutely will not stop, ever, until you are dead.

The game of cat and mouse is an exciting one, with hardware such as tanks, bikes, rocket launchers and helicopters all factoring into the action at various points. There’s a neat ending too, with a very creepy moment before the big climax.

The backup story, Buried Alive, continues to be baffling and a bit pointless, however. Given that it’s only been a few pages long in each issue, it feels like this space could be used more productively; three issues in, I still have no clue what is going on in this story.

Still, the main event is a good one, bringing The Terminator’s 40th anniversary to a close with a bang, and I’m keen to see where the comic goes next, given how strong the lead stories have been so far.
