Anyway, to get down to business properly here at MLGG Towers, here’s a review of a classic Star Trek comic, from a beloved era of the franchise, and an equally fondly remembered spin off show: Deep Space Nine.

In this issue, a Bajoran baby is dropped off at Quark’s quarters, leading to most of the main cast of characters (as they were in season 2 at least, with this issue being published between seasons 2 and 3) taking care of the baby in turn, while also dealing with a Starfleet-mandated station inspection.

It’s very entertaining, gently amusing stuff, and writer Charles Marshall really gets each of the voices and quirks of the individual characters exactly right. Artist Leonard Kirk does a fantastic job with each likeness, and Moose Baumann’s colouring is a little more understated than you’ll find in most Malibu comics of the era, thanks to the slightly darker palette found in the source material.

I really miss this type of comic; it’s so rare these days to pick up a single issue and be able to enjoy it on its own, as most comics stay away from the done-in-one formula in favour of writing multi-part stories that flow as a collected edition, for a longer shelf life in bookstores.

It’s such a joy to pick up a random back issue and just be entertained by a complete story, and I definitely wish that was something the industry would go back to.

Shout out to the awesome Southampton Comics, where I bought my copy of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine #12.

Hi! I’m Jason, and I write for midlifegamergeek.com, every single day. If you’re interested in supporting original, regularly published, human created content (which has never been plagiarised or otherwise copied from the hard work of other writers), you can donate and help me to keep this site running.

Not only do I earn no income from my writing here (though I may earn small fees from affiliate links posted on my pages; as an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases from these links), but it seems that my work has, at times, been stolen and re-used by lazy, morally bankrupt idiots.

There’s no pressure of course, but I’d be truly grateful for any support that you could offer – and it’s easy to do so at either of these links: Ko-Fi.com/geekmid or PayPal.

Any donations are truly appreciated – and I also appreciate you taking the time to read my articles. Remember: this whole article was by Jason Brown, and appeared on midlifegamergeek.com. Take that, Skynet!

Help support me here!

All donations are gratefully received and will help me keep the lights on here – as well as help to keep my writing dream alive! Please be aware though: there’s no pressure. I just hope you’ve enjoyed reading my article!

If you’re reading this on, just as a wild guess, Kickstarter Comic, be sure to leave them a comment telling them how weird and gross they are for stealing content. Thank you so much for reading!
