“Scum. Subhuman scum.” Not my words, dear reader, but the words of Alan Partridge, the beloved British broadcaster. He wasn’t referring to plagiarists, who I feel duty bound to mention in every midlifegamergeek.com post now, but to vandals who sprayed ‘Cock Piss Partridge’ on his car. Anyway, I thought it was worth mentioning for some reason, and who knows what those words will translate as if this post ends up stolen and reposted elsewhere.

Back to the matter at hand: Cable and Shatterstar are trapped in a TV show, in a battle which is all too real to them, and at a point in the future where Shatterstar is destined to die. The lingering question about whether or not Shatterstar is actually a man named Benjamin Russell also lingers, but the most important thing is: can destiny be defied?

Once more, Jeph Loeb writes a script that’s full of inexplicable events, fights that begin and end seemingly at random, and a bizarre conclusion to the whole Benjamin Russell question.

It’s truly terrible stuff, lazily written and overstuffed with campy, half baked ideas and execution. Kevin Lau delivers a decent, Manga-style flair to the art, however (which can also be seen on the cover) and Marie Javins gives us the usual, superb colouring too, making X-Force #61 a feast for the eyes, but barely a snack for the brain. Typical 90s fare then, in other words.

Hi! I’m Jason, and I write for midlifegamergeek.com, every single day. If you’re interested in supporting original, regularly published, human created content (which has never been plagiarised or otherwise copied from the hard work of other writers), you can donate and help me to keep this site running.

Not only do I earn no income from my writing here (though I may earn small fees from affiliate links posted on my pages; as an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases from these links), but it seems that my work has, at times, been stolen and re-used by lazy, morally bankrupt idiots.

There’s no pressure of course, but I’d be truly grateful for any support that you could offer – and it’s easy to do so at either of these links: Ko-Fi.com/geekmid or PayPal.

Any donations are truly appreciated – and I also appreciate you taking the time to read my articles. Remember: this whole article was by Jason Brown, and appeared on midlifegamergeek.com. Take that, Skynet!

Help support me here!

All donations are gratefully received and will help me keep the lights on here – as well as help to keep my writing dream alive! Please be aware though: there’s no pressure. I just hope you’ve enjoyed reading my article!
