Nightwatcher has defeated Lao Ban, or so she thinks. In a fragile state, Jennika has lost the Nightwatcher armour and Lao Ban taunts and manipulates our wounded hero from his cage. Can she take on the new occupant of the Nightwatcher armour, and become the hero of her story once more?

It’s no secret that I’m a big fan of Juni Ba and Fero Pe’s Nightwatcher series; it’s a fantastic companion to the main Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comic, which itself has been relaunched flawlessly.

There’s so much to like here, with a gripping, atmospheric and moody tale, mostly a two hander in which Lao Ban does the lion’s (or perhaps bear’s) share of the talking.

Fero Pe’s art is truly superb, elevating the already excellent script by Ba.

If you’re a TMNT fan who perhaps dismissed this series after learning who was in the armour (and yes, there are entire subreddits dedicated to people complaining about this series due to the identity of the Nightwatcher), quite frankly, it’s your loss.
