With Belger and Haggar seemingly falling to their doom from the aforementioned villain’s tower, will this be the Mayor’s Final Fight?
The conclusion of the four part Final Fight series wraps things up in a hugely satisfying way, with seemingly endless, impressively chunky widescreen action that takes place across several stunning splash pages. Minor, often forgotten characters from the more obscure Final Fight sequels make welcome appearances, and we get to say hello to a Guy-related character who first appeared in Street Fighter Alpha 2 (though they weren’t playable until Street Fighter V!) too.
It’s all cheerfully silly, over the top fun, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. It took a long time for UDON to get around to adapting Final Fight as its own mini series (the game’s characters have popped up in the publisher’s long running, equally excellent Street Fighter comics), but it was well worth the wait.
Writer Matt Moylan clearly knows his Final Fight, even beyond the first game, which is (in my opinion) the most iconic scrolling beat ’em up of all time. Artist Matthew Weldon’s art is absolutely jaw dropping, and it does such a great job of bringing the familiar characters and settings of the game to life. The entire series has been an absolute love letter to the games, by fans, for fans. And it’s glorious.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got the sudden urge to take on the Mad Gear gang myself.
Hi! I’m Jason, and I write for midlifegamergeek.com, every single day. If you’re interested in supporting original, regularly published, human created content (which has never been plagiarised or otherwise copied from the hard work of other writers), you can donate and help me to keep this site running.
Not only do I earn no income from my writing here (though I may earn small fees from affiliate links posted on my pages; as an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases from these links), but it seems that my work has, at times, been stolen and re-used by lazy, morally bankrupt idiots.
There’s no pressure of course, but I’d be truly grateful for any support that you could offer – and it’s easy to do so at either of these links: Ko-Fi.com/geekmid or PayPal.
Any donations are truly appreciated – and I also appreciate you taking the time to read my articles. Remember: this whole article was by Jason Brown, and appeared on midlifegamergeek.com. Take that, Skynet!
