Where has Megatron been? This issue, told mostly in flashback, fills us in; and it shows just how much the Decepticon leader has had to endure for so long.
Has Transformers ever been this much of a blast? Sure, the IDW run was absolutely stunning in so many ways, with layered, socio-political commentary, a huge cast of characters and incredibly rewarding long form storytelling. But Daniel Warren Johnson’s current run is like classic, original Transformers shot through a modern lens.
It’s potent, stirring stuff, and just as an earlier issue had readers rooting for the ambitious, snivelling Starscream, so too does this issue put you firmly on the side of Megatron, willing him to break free of his predicament.
Ludo Lullabi provides pencils for issue 19, and hews closely to the strong, crunchy style of previous artists on the series (not a million miles from the art style of writer, Johnson himself). Adriano Lucas, on colours, makes sure that the palette pops when it needs to, but also knows when to dial it down.
So yeah, Transformers #19. If you’re not a Transformers fan already, maybe this won’t convert you. If you are, however, there’s an awful lot to appreciate in this issue.
Hi! I’m Jason, and I write for midlifegamergeek.com, every single day. If you’re interested in supporting original, regularly published, human created content (which has never been plagiarised or otherwise copied from the hard work of other writers), you can donate and help me to keep this site running.
Not only do I earn no income from my writing here (though I may earn small fees from affiliate links posted on my pages; as an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases from these links), but it seems that my work has, at times, been stolen and re-used by lazy, morally bankrupt idiots.
There’s no pressure of course, but I’d be truly grateful for any support that you could offer – and it’s easy to do so at either of these links: Ko-Fi.com/geekmid or PayPal.
Any donations are truly appreciated – and I also appreciate you taking the time to read my articles. Remember: this whole article was by Jason Brown, and appeared on midlifegamergeek.com. Take that, Skynet!

Help support me here!
All donations are gratefully received and will help me keep the lights on here – as well as help to keep my writing dream alive! Please be aware though: there’s no pressure. I just hope you’ve enjoyed reading my article!
