Searching for a long lost friend, Rachel and Rory have arrived at a hospital. Of course, in the post-Cthulhu apocalypse of Abyssal Albion, their search isn’t going to be an easy one. But what exactly is roaming the wards, and why does it look like someone very familiar to our sibling duo?

I’ve been with Abyssal Albion from the beginning, and I’ve always found it to be a superb read, with writer Thomas J. Campbell knowing exactly when and where to ratchet up the tension, as well as expertly dropping hints to the situation which has befallen the siblings; not to mention the apocalypse itself, in a wider context.

Though we have always spent our time zoomed into the brother and sister’s fight for survival in this horrific new world, we’ve also had quite a few breadcrumbs of information on the bigger picture tantalisingly doled out too.

As always, Wayne Lowden’s art is a great fit for Campbell’s script, with a nicely stylised approach bringing our likeable protagonists, and the horrors they encounter, to life brilliantly. Trilby Black’s selective colouring on the cover (also Ben Hamill’s art and colours on the prints you can see above) is really well done too.

So where next for Abyssal Albion? Though a cheekily hidden ‘The End’ sign can be spotted in the final panel, there’s clearly more for us to discover, and perhaps much more to the world than we’ve seen so far; though I know a fifth issue isn’t imminent, I’m definitely looking forward to its arrival. Ia!

Hi! I’m Jason, and I write for midlifegamergeek.com, every single day. If you’re interested in supporting original, regularly published, human created content (which has never been plagiarised or otherwise copied from the hard work of other writers), you can donate and help me to keep this site running.

Not only do I earn no income from my writing here (though I may earn small fees from affiliate links posted on my pages; as an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases from these links), but it seems that my work has, at times, been stolen and re-used by lazy, morally bankrupt idiots.

There’s no pressure of course, but I’d be truly grateful for any support that you could offer – and it’s easy to do so at either of these links: Ko-Fi.com/geekmid or PayPal.

Any donations are truly appreciated – and I also appreciate you taking the time to read my articles. Remember: this whole article was by Jason Brown, and appeared on midlifegamergeek.com. Take that, Skynet!
