Having released on PlayStation consoles and Nintendo Switch in February 2025, Stunt Flyer has now arrived on the Xbox too.
To say I wasn’t expecting very much from Stunt Flyer would be an understatement; happily, the truth is that it far exceeded my expectations, and I’ve ended up sinking quite a bit of time into its non-linear stages.
So what’s it all about? Well, in Stunt Flyer, you explore a reasonably large island, finding rings, shooting gifts to reveal secret statues (with water balloons!) and completing a wide variety of missions.

It’s all very simple and straightforward, and its vibrant, colourful visuals make it instantly appealing for gamers of all ages.
Stunt Flyer is very forgiving too; though you may well crash often, especially early on, there’s no penalty for doing so, and success in missions, though they’re timed, usually just requires that you finish the objective.

Missions can see you taking photos, filming certain scenes or objects, even watering crops, racing rival pilots or completing circuits around the island. There’s a lot to do, and a ton of variety, and it’s a fairly laid back and enjoyable experience, with only a few mission types, such as racing, daring to raise your pulse.
Exploring the nooks and crannies of the island is a joy, and there’s a lot of collectibles to find. Completing missions and finding collectibles will unlock new planes and even new islands; travelling to a new island is a great experience too, because there’s so much variety between each one.

It’s not perfect; when you respawn from crashing, you can sometimes get trapped in a bit of a loop where you can’t react in time to avoid hitting the exact same spot that caused you to crash in the first place, for one thing.
It could also do with a bit more of a robust tutorial on your plane’s different functions, because it took ages for me to figure out how to reload my water balloons! There’s also a lack of camera control, which can make manoeuvres in some spots quite difficult.
Still, there’s a lot of variety not just in the environments, but also with the different ‘planes’ you unlock, each of which feels genuinely different to fly, as they all have a unique handling model.

Split screen co-op means you can explore and complete missions with a friend or family member, and it’s really good fun to do so. It’s a shame that you can’t have your own unique plane (whatever one player chooses becomes the plane for both players), and it’s also a disappointment that you can’t attempt a mission alone while the other player just does what they want to.
These are minor issues, however, as Stunt Flyer is a genuinely fun little game which does what it sets out to do pretty well. It’s pretty reasonably priced too, and definitely suitable even for very young players. Despite the fact that it can feel a little rough around the edges, overall Stunt Flyer is a great, non violent experience for all ages.
