Jack Boniface isn’t just deliberately looking for trouble when night falls; now it’s actively looking for him. When a local monster of a man named Sosa goes way, way over the line with his appalling activities, Jack decides to go after him, and to rescue his helpless victim. The problem is, Sosa has laid a trap for Jack, and the new Shadowman may not be able to escape it unscathed.
The subject matter of this issue is incredibly tasteless, but having lived through this era of comics, I can vouch for the fact that it was fairly common for the period, which saw a rise in violent and dark content that was sold as ‘mature’ to an increasingly older audience who were hungry for this type of content.
It does at least justify Shadowman’s indifference to killing, but it doesn’t excuse his repeated habit of putting innocent people in harm’s way and seeming not to care whether they’re hurt, or even if they survive.
Is a point being made about the Shadowman persona pushing Jack over the line? Perhaps, but it’s still too early in the run to know for sure. Still, in getting to know the premise of the comic a little better, I am starting to become more involved in it. However, it is a shame that the creators are resorting to such cheaply tasteless subject matter to make the antiheroic vigilantism of the series feel warranted; it’s pretty grim stuff, completely unnecessarily so, in my humble opinion.
Hi! I’m Jason, and I write for midlifegamergeek.com, every single day. If you’re interested in supporting original, regularly published, human created content (which has never been plagiarised or otherwise copied from the hard work of other writers), you can donate and help me to keep this site running.
Not only do I earn no income from my writing here (though I may earn small fees from affiliate links posted on my pages; as an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases from these links), but it seems that my work has, at times, been stolen and re-used by lazy, morally bankrupt idiots.
There’s no pressure of course, but I’d be truly grateful for any support that you could offer – and it’s easy to do so at either of these links: Ko-Fi.com/geekmid or PayPal.
Any donations are truly appreciated – and I also appreciate you taking the time to read my articles. Remember: this whole article was by Jason Brown, and appeared on midlifegamergeek.com. Take that, Skynet!

Help support me here!
All donations are gratefully received and will help me keep the lights on here – as well as help to keep my writing dream alive! Please be aware though: there’s no pressure. I just hope you’ve enjoyed reading my article!
