How is it possible that I was bored during this clash of the titans? And yet…there’s so little of interest that happens over the course of Predator Versus Black Panther’s four issues, which is a massive shame, because this first ever meeting of two characters, who are ideally suited to taking each other on, should have definitely been an absolute slam dunk.

In this story, the Yautja find out about Wakanda’s huge reserves of vibranium, and come to Earth to retrieve it. Of course, T’Challa and his loyal forces aren’t going to let the alien hunters simply waltz into their nation and steal their precious resources, so the fight is on.

The problem this story has is that it involves way too many characters; it never really feels like Wakanda is under proper threat, and the Predators themselves feel outmatched quite quickly. They feel like cannon fodder at times, which should never be the case.

To add to this, the art is incredibly inconsistent, with multiple artists tackling the story, and the thickly-inked illustrations often feeling just as overly busy as the story itself. It’s a huge disappointment, particularly after Predator Versus Wolverine did such a great job of showing how to handle the Yautja taking on a lethal and near-enough immortal super powered being, and still felt like a proper threat.

Weirdly, Benjamin Percy wrote both Predator Versus Wolverine and Predator Versus Black Panther, but for whatever reason he seems to have dropped the ball here.

Next up is Predator Versus Spider-Man, a series which is (as of the time of writing) still ongoing. With Benjamin Percy writing that too, will it just be the case of Predator Versus Black Panther being the ‘difficult second album’? We shall see…

Its saving grace is that it’s relatively cheap; you can buy Predator vs Black Panther from Amazon, if you really want to.

Hi! I’m Jason, and I write for midlifegamergeek.com, every single day. If you’re interested in supporting original, regularly published, human created content (which has never been plagiarised or otherwise copied from the hard work of other writers), you can donate and help me to keep this site running.

Not only do I earn no income from my writing here (though I may earn small fees from affiliate links posted on my pages; as an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases from these links), but it seems that my work has, at times, been stolen and re-used by lazy, morally bankrupt idiots.

There’s no pressure of course, but I’d be truly grateful for any support that you could offer – and it’s easy to do so at either of these links: Ko-Fi.com/geekmid or PayPal.

Any donations are truly appreciated – and I also appreciate you taking the time to read my articles. Remember: this whole article was by Jason Brown, and appeared on midlifegamergeek.com. Take that, Skynet!
