The Autobots are in retreat, and help arrives from an unlikely source. The Decepticons are rampaging across the country, and all seems lost. An ally from Cybertron is on the way to help turn the tide, and one of the most infamous events in Transformers history is underway, but things don’t play out in the way that fans may be expecting.

Though there’s some really messy elements here, and it’s getting a bit tiresome to see the good guys constantly on the losing side, there’s some excellent and surprising moments in this issue.

It does feel as if Daniel Warren Johnson is perhaps leaving at the right time though, with not much left of his run after this issue. Though I was initially dreading it (and I’m really not looking forward to Robert Kirkman picking up where Johnson leaves off), I think there are cracks starting to show in his approach at this point.

There’s good stuff, for sure, but it’s far from the essential comic it was at the beginning of the series.

Hi! I’m Jason, and I write for midlifegamergeek.com, every single day. If you’re interested in supporting original, regularly published, human created content (which has never been plagiarised or otherwise copied from the hard work of other writers), you can donate and help me to keep this site running.

Not only do I earn no income from my writing here (though I may earn small fees from affiliate links posted on my pages; as an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases from these links), but it seems that my work has, at times, been stolen and re-used by lazy, morally bankrupt idiots.

There’s no pressure of course, but I’d be truly grateful for any support that you could offer – and it’s easy to do so at either of these links: Ko-Fi.com/geekmid or PayPal.

Any donations are truly appreciated – and I also appreciate you taking the time to read my articles. Remember: this whole article was by Jason Brown, and appeared on midlifegamergeek.com. Take that, Skynet!

Help support me here!

All donations are gratefully received and will help me keep the lights on here – as well as help to keep my writing dream alive! Please be aware though: there’s no pressure. I just hope you’ve enjoyed reading my article!
