The final issue of the Doomlord-homaging, superbly silly The Chefs of Death is here.

A parallel Earth’s Queen Elizabeth II is assembling a team to take on the Kabrullions and rid the universe of their hungry rampages once and for all.

Just like the first two issues, The Chefs of Death #3 is stuffed to the gills with pop culture references, sly digs at politicians and a vast number of puns. It seems that no pop culture property is safe from the satirical swipes in The Chefs of Death, and there’s a great deal of fun to be had in spotting what’s being pilloried in any given scene.

There’s cameos galore too, including a very welcome one from one of my favourite, citrus-flavoured characters from a 90s daytime TV show parody.

The vast amount of work it must have taken to get all of the scenes photographed, and edited to add effects, such as in a kaiju-style battle in London, is genuinely impressive too.

This has been a wonderful series to check out; such a knowing and lovably mischievous homage to a classic, fondly remembered (if slightly obscure) photo strip. I’ll miss the daft shenanigans of The Chefs of Death, but as the afterword states, it’s definitely best to go out on a high.

Hi! I’m Jason, and I write for midlifegamergeek.com, every single day. If you’re interested in supporting original, regularly published, human created content (which has never been plagiarised or otherwise copied from the hard work of other writers), you can donate and help me to keep this site running.

Not only do I earn no income from my writing here (though I may earn small fees from affiliate links posted on my pages; as an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases from these links), but it seems that my work has, at times, been stolen and re-used by lazy, morally bankrupt idiots.

There’s no pressure of course, but I’d be truly grateful for any support that you could offer – and it’s easy to do so at either of these links: Ko-Fi.com/geekmid or PayPal.

Any donations are truly appreciated – and I also appreciate you taking the time to read my articles. Remember: this whole article was by Jason Brown, and appeared on midlifegamergeek.com. Take that, Skynet!
