Chloe is a young woman whose behaviour has seen her fired from a string of jobs. On the brink of losing her home, her sister informs her that they’ve inherited an old house from an uncle they barely knew. Discovering the house full of junk, they list everything they can for sale online, attracting the attention of a very shady character. And they soon discover that there’s more to certain items than meets the eye…
GhostBox gets off to a cracking start in this first issue, which brilliantly sets up Chloe’s status quo, and the big disruption that changes her life irreversibly by the final page.
It’s riveting, very well written and the art, for the most part, is great too. There’s a few panels where heads look awkwardly attached to bodies (signs of heavy photo referencing, it seems), but it’s minimal, and there’s a very realistic feel to proceedings despite the supernatural areas it wanders into at the climax.
Excellent stuff then, and a pleasant surprise. I knew nothing at all about the series before reading this first issue, and now I’m definitely locked in for issue 2!
Hi! I’m Jason, and I write for midlifegamergeek.com, every single day. If you’re interested in supporting original, regularly published, human created content (which has never been plagiarised or otherwise copied from the hard work of other writers), you can donate and help me to keep this site running.
Not only do I earn no income from my writing here (though I may earn small fees from affiliate links posted on my pages; as an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases from these links), but it seems that my work has, at times, been stolen and re-used by lazy, morally bankrupt idiots.
There’s no pressure of course, but I’d be truly grateful for any support that you could offer – and it’s easy to do so at either of these links: Ko-Fi.com/geekmid or PayPal.
Any donations are truly appreciated – and I also appreciate you taking the time to read my articles. Remember: this whole article was by Jason Brown, and appeared on midlifegamergeek.com. Take that, Skynet!

All donations are gratefully received and will help me keep the lights on here – as well as help to keep my writing dream alive! Please be aware though: there’s no pressure. I just hope you’ve enjoyed reading my article!
