I can’t believe it’s taken me this long to review The Stanley Parable. The thing is, it’s best to go into The Stanley Parable completely blind, so I want to reveal as little as possible here.
It’s a first person game, but it’s not a shooter. Is it a narrative-based experience of the kind you would often hear derisively referred to as a’walking simulator’?
Well, kind of. That would definitely do it a disservice though. You begin the game as office worker Stanley, with narration being provided by a mysterious voiceover. The voiceover seems to be narrating exactly what you do in the game, to a degree that quickly becomes a bit weird.

You soon discover that it can get even weirder, when you realise you don’t have to follow what the voice is telling you. Of course, curiosity will get the better of you, and you will find yourself trying stuff further and further away from what you’re told, to see if the voice reacts, or just what might happen.
And things can get incredibly strange in The Stanley Parable.

I fear I’ve said too much. You should play it; it’s an absolutely fascinating, frequently hilarious and occasionally unsettling experience, and it’s available on PC, and on just about all modern consoles, even as a more recent Ultra Deluxe Edition too.
There’s never been a game like The Stanley Parable, before or since it was released. So do give it a go. Or don’t, you don’t have to follow my direction of course…
Hi! I’m Jason, and I write for midlifegamergeek.com, every single day. If you’re interested in supporting original, regularly published, human created content (which has never been plagiarised or otherwise copied from the hard work of other writers), you can donate and help me to keep this site running.
Not only do I earn no income from my writing here (though I may earn small fees from affiliate links posted on my pages; as an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases from these links), but it seems that my work has, at times, been stolen and re-used by lazy, morally bankrupt idiots.
There’s no pressure of course, but I’d be truly grateful for any support that you could offer – and it’s easy to do so at either of these links: Ko-Fi.com/geekmid or PayPal.
Any donations are truly appreciated – and I also appreciate you taking the time to read my articles. Remember: this whole article was by Jason Brown, and appeared on midlifegamergeek.com. Take that, Skynet!

Help support me here!
All donations are gratefully received and will help me keep the lights on here – as well as help to keep my writing dream alive! Please be aware though: there’s no pressure. I just hope you’ve enjoyed reading my article!
