In this third volume of the adaptation of video game series, Plants vs Zombies, there’s the main story along with numerous, shorter tales.

The main story sees Dr. Zomboss, and Neighborville itself, having to deal with the Anti-Bully Squad. The Anti-Bully Squad themselves are a group of disgruntled ex-students who didn’t exactly have positive experiences with Dr. Zomboss at college, and have returned to wreak their revenge. Of course, Neighborville youngsters Patrice and Nate, along with Crazy Dave, are there to lend a hand in defending the town from the group of zombies that’s even weirder than we’re used to seeing…

Though, as is characteristic of the series so far, it’s light, harmless fun, it is the case that the main story here seems stretched a bit thin over the course of its three issue length.

It’s full of the usual inexplicable, sudden appearances of plants from the games, and of course the now-expected lack of real threat from the zombies.

Much more successful are the shorter stories which follow the main feature, particularly the ones which (thanks to using different artists) experiment really nicely with the visual look of the series. The shorter form of these tales means they don’t outstay their welcome, and they tend to be cute little vignettes that just work really well.

It does feel as if the formula of the series isn’t particularly engaging for older readers, so perhaps I’m just not the target audience. I’ll continue to persevere though, and will of course review more volumes as I read them!

Hi! I’m Jason, and I write for midlifegamergeek.com, every single day. If you’re interested in supporting original, regularly published, human created content (which has never been plagiarised or otherwise copied from the hard work of other writers), you can donate and help me to keep this site running.

Not only do I earn no income from my writing here (though I may earn small fees from affiliate links posted on my pages; as an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases from these links), but it seems that my work has, at times, been stolen and re-used by lazy, morally bankrupt idiots.

There’s no pressure of course, but I’d be truly grateful for any support that you could offer – and it’s easy to do so at either of these links: Ko-Fi.com/geekmid or PayPal.

Any donations are truly appreciated – and I also appreciate you taking the time to read my articles. Remember: this whole article was by Jason Brown, and appeared on midlifegamergeek.com. Take that, Skynet!
