Plagued by visions of a demonic force, Ryu returns to his previous home to pay his respects to his former mentor. Warned against digging into the dark fighting force he’s able to tap into, Ryu comes face to face with his mentor’s killer.
Though very brief, at a little over 40 minutes long, I enjoyed Street Fighter: Alpha Generations to a certain extent.
The animation was very well done, the soundtrack was excellent and certain, more quiet and meditative scenes recalled the serenity and natural beauty of Studio Ghibli’s output.
Yet I found the fight scenes particularly underwhelming, and there’s a particularly shoehorned in moment where an old man spies on two younger women taking a bath that just feels gross, and it’s supposed to be a comedic moment.
I did miss seeing the wider cast, but I suppose the focus on just a small number of Street Fighter’s eclectic character selection does allow it to hone in on them that much more. Though with that being the case, you may be expecting a little more depth than we get here.
Still, this is a decent enough prequel for Street Fighter fans, and definitely doesn’t outstay its welcome by the time the credits prematurely roll.
Hi! I’m Jason, and I write for midlifegamergeek.com, every single day. If you’re interested in supporting original, regularly published, human created content (which has never been plagiarised or otherwise copied from the hard work of other writers), you can donate and help me to keep this site running.
Not only do I earn no income from my writing here (though I may earn small fees from affiliate links posted on my pages; as an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases from these links), but it seems that my work has, at times, been stolen and re-used by lazy, morally bankrupt idiots.
There’s no pressure of course, but I’d be truly grateful for any support that you could offer – and it’s easy to do so at either of these links: Ko-Fi.com/geekmid or PayPal.
Any donations are truly appreciated – and I also appreciate you taking the time to read my articles. Remember: this whole article was by Jason Brown, and appeared on midlifegamergeek.com. Take that, Skynet!

Help support me here!
All donations are gratefully received and will help me keep the lights on here – as well as help to keep my writing dream alive! Please be aware though: there’s no pressure. I just hope you’ve enjoyed reading my article!
