Those shysters at the Roxxon energy corporation are at it again, with a machine that is turning the tropical Savage Land into a frozen wilderness, all in the name of helping to reduce global warming. A big, crossover-worthy group of Marvel heroes head to the prehistoric paradise and try to clean up the mess.
Of course, it’s all a very thinly veiled excuse for a Winter-themed, swimsuit special-style series of cheeky pinups. Despite that, the story is at least incredibly self aware and somewhat meta (with Gwenpool heavily involved, that’s perhaps no surprise), full of amusing dialogue and neat little touches that make it a really enjoyable read.
The worst thing for me is the Greg Land cover; though he’s known for photo referencing from, well, dubious, sources, he continues to get a ton of work even when his art isn’t exactly great. The cover to this special is a great example. It looks great at first glance, but look closer at elements such as Storm’s face and it doesn’t take long for the cracks in the façade to appear. It’s disappointing that this is the main cover, but unfortunately my local comic shop (hello, Vanguard Comics!) only had this one in stock.
Of course, it’s the pinups that are the main event, and there’s a great selection and variety of them. I’m always pleasantly surprised to see the male characters well represented in these specials, and though there’s still an element of cheesiness with the characters, it feels less of an outright sexist leering session when the boys are involved too.
Hi! I’m Jason, and I write for midlifegamergeek.com, every single day. If you’re interested in supporting original, regularly published, human created content (which has never been plagiarised or otherwise copied from the hard work of other writers), you can donate and help me to keep this site running.
Not only do I earn no income from my writing here (though I may earn small fees from affiliate links posted on my pages; as an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases from these links), but it seems that my work has, at times, been stolen and re-used by lazy, morally bankrupt idiots.
There’s no pressure of course, but I’d be truly grateful for any support that you could offer – and it’s easy to do so at either of these links: Ko-Fi.com/geekmid or PayPal.
Any donations are truly appreciated – and I also appreciate you taking the time to read my articles. Remember: this whole article was by Jason Brown, and appeared on midlifegamergeek.com. Take that, Skynet!

Help support me here!
All donations are gratefully received and will help me keep the lights on here – as well as help to keep my writing dream alive! Please be aware though: there’s no pressure. I just hope you’ve enjoyed reading my article!
