The beastly Ujigami is on a rampage, and disrupts an emotionally charged court case with lethal consequences. Not knowing where the powerful mutant is going to strike next, the Turtles split up to protect different territories in the city, making some unusual allies in the process. Soon enough, at least one of the Turtles starts to have an odd sense of familiarity about who Ujigami really is…
Of course, if you read Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #13, you know who Ujigami is. It does feel as if writer Gene Luen Yang showed his hand a little too early in that respect, as it could have been a lot more interesting to keep us in the dark alongside the Turtles themselves. Even with the issue’s final reveal here, it still could have been kept a mystery except perhaps for one or two brief moments in the story that would otherwise have had to be delayed.
Still, even if there’s been a misstep there, it’s difficult to point at any issues at all with the art, with the phen Freddie Williams II firing on all cylinders yet again. Chunky, impactful figures and some really impressive, action sequences are the order of the day here, and his art style is always such a perfect fit for the Turtles.
I was a little apprehensive about previous writer Jason Aaron’s departure, but it seems that the series is in really good hands right now, even with my (admittedly very nitpicky) points about the writing.
Hi! I’m Jason, and I write for midlifegamergeek.com, every single day. If you’re interested in supporting original, regularly published, human created content (which has never been plagiarised or otherwise copied from the hard work of other writers), you can donate and help me to keep this site running.
Not only do I earn no income from my writing here (though I may earn small fees from affiliate links posted on my pages; as an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases from these links), but it seems that my work has, at times, been stolen and re-used by lazy, morally bankrupt idiots.
There’s no pressure of course, but I’d be truly grateful for any support that you could offer – and it’s easy to do so at either of these links: Ko-Fi.com/geekmid or PayPal.
Any donations are truly appreciated – and I also appreciate you taking the time to read my articles. Remember: this whole article was by Jason Brown, and appeared on midlifegamergeek.com. Take that, Skynet!

Help support me here!
All donations are gratefully received and will help me keep the lights on here – as well as help to keep my writing dream alive! Please be aware though: there’s no pressure. I just hope you’ve enjoyed reading my article!
