It took five issues, but I think that Turtles spin-off Mutant Nation has finally lived up to its premise of shining a light on different corners of the TMNT universe.

It still can’t quit Raphael though; not quite anyway. The first story gives us a mostly-solo Pepperoni side quest, where Raph’s adorable little dinosaur buddy tries to retrieve something important for his Turtle friend. It’s really well done, with lovely art and some great, ‘silent’ panels too.

Next up is Frogs vs Punks, which pits the Punk Frogs against a small contingent of the Purple Dragons gang. Again, it’s fun and well drawn; the spotlight on lesser used characters being very welcome indeed.

Apparently, however, my enthusiasm for seeing different POVs in the TMNTverse isn’t particularly shared amongst fans, and it seems that Mutant Nation didn’t last much longer. There’s still four more issues for me to cover though, so expect my views and verdicts on this series to pop up a few more times!

Hi! I’m Jason, and I write for midlifegamergeek.com, every single day. If you’re interested in supporting original, regularly published, human created content (which has never been plagiarised or otherwise copied from the hard work of other writers), you can donate and help me to keep this site running.

Not only do I earn no income from my writing here (though I may earn small fees from affiliate links posted on my pages; as an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases from these links), but it seems that my work has, at times, been stolen and re-used by lazy, morally bankrupt idiots.

There’s no pressure of course, but I’d be truly grateful for any support that you could offer – and it’s easy to do so at either of these links: Ko-Fi.com/geekmid or PayPal.

Any donations are truly appreciated – and I also appreciate you taking the time to read my articles. Remember: this whole article was by Jason Brown, and appeared on midlifegamergeek.com. Take that, Skynet!

Help support me here!

All donations are gratefully received and will help me keep the lights on here – as well as help to keep my writing dream alive! Please be aware though: there’s no pressure. I just hope you’ve enjoyed reading my article!
