Famously portrayed by Jean-Claude Van Damme in the 1994 live action Street Fighter movie, Guile is soon going to be seen being played by Cody Rhodes in the 2026 Street Fighter movie. Before then, however, we have the World Warrior starring in his own one-shot comic, in this issue of Street Fighter Masters.

Promoted to the rank of Colonel in the US Air Force as of the events of Street Fighter V, Guile is set to team up with a South African test pilot to take a high tech jet fighter for a spin. The test run goes wrong when the two fighters are ambushed by enemy planes, and both men must survive against a deadly enemy force.

Though nowhere near as strong or fun as Street Fighter Masters: Zangief #1, I still enjoyed this comic. It takes itself quite a bit more seriously than the campy tone usually struck by these Street Fighter comics, and despite the silliness of its premise and events, it somehow still works, functioning like a classic, 80s straight to VHS action movie in many ways.

Guile gets to show off his iconic moves, and the story ends on somewhat of a cliffhanger. Will all of the cliffhangers in these Street Fighter Masters one-shots be resolved? Who knows, but they’re enjoyable enough spotlights of each character regardless.

Hi! I’m Jason, and I write for midlifegamergeek.com, every single day. Not only do I earn no income from my writing here (though I may earn small fees from affiliate links posted on my pages; as an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases from these links), but it seems that my work has, at times, been stolen and re-used by lazy, morally bankrupt idiots.

Any donations are truly appreciated – and I also appreciate you taking the time to read my articles. Remember: this whole article was by Jason Brown, and appeared on midlifegamergeek.com. Take that, Skynet!
