The crew of the Starship Godzilla are trapped, with their enemies (the Xiliens) having captured them. The revelations come thick and fast, as Ayan survives a seeming attempt on her life, and discovers who her grandmother and supposed friend, Rohan, have been working for. But is everything as it appears? And can the crew escape the clutches of the Xiliens, who threaten the safety of thousands of innocent lives?

What an issue this was. I absolutely adore this space western style, with echoes of Cowboy Bebop, Firefly and Guardians of the Galaxy ringing through its ambience and subject matter. It’s a very clever use of the Godzilla licence, and a worthy addition to IDW’s brilliant, shared universe ‘Kai-Sei Era’ Godzilla comics. Though there may be some fans who are disappointed by the lack of kaiju action in the Kai-Sei Era titles, it’s a smart move to dole out the giant monster action and give us relatable, human characters we can care about between the bigger scale action sequences.

I’m a huge fan of what writer Chris Gooch and artist Oliver Ono are doing here, in their own, intergalactic corner of the Godzilla universe. It’s thrilling, brilliantly produced and the concept of a ragtag, motley crew of big-hearted ne’er-do-wells is something I’m always on board with. I’m really looking forward to the final issue of this first story arc.

Hi! I’m Jason, and I write for midlifegamergeek.com, every single day. If you’re interested in supporting original, regularly published, human created content (which has never been plagiarised or otherwise copied from the hard work of other writers), you can donate and help me to keep this site running.

Not only do I earn no income from my writing here (though I may earn small fees from affiliate links posted on my pages; as an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases from these links), but it seems that my work has, at times, been stolen and re-used by lazy, morally bankrupt idiots.

There’s no pressure of course, but I’d be truly grateful for any support that you could offer – and it’s easy to do so at either of these links: Ko-Fi.com/geekmid or PayPal.

Any donations are truly appreciated – and I also appreciate you taking the time to read my articles. Remember: this whole article was by Jason Brown, and appeared on midlifegamergeek.com. Take that, Skynet!

All donations are gratefully received and will help me keep the lights on here – as well as help to keep my writing dream alive! Please be aware though: there’s no pressure. I just hope you’ve enjoyed reading my article!
