If you’ve been reading my reviews recently, you’ll have noticed that I’ve been catching up with indie comic series, Otherkin.
Steeped in magical realism and urban fantasy, Otherkin is the story of Alex, a shape shifter who comes up against a major threat to his existence, unwittingly dragging a human librarian named Lo into his dangerous battle.
With a decompressed style that forces the reader to absorb visual cues from its Mike Mignola-esque art, Otherkin has been a breath of fresh air so far. Its engaging, unpredictable plot really keeps the reader on their toes.

The fifth issue is heading to Kickstarter for crowdfunding, and preview pages have been revealed, along with three variant covers.
You can see a page from the issue right here, but I’m wary of sharing too much, as so much of what makes Otherkin special is in discovering it for yourself.
It does seem, however, that we’re going to get some insight into Alex’s past in issue five.

The variant covers can also be seen above. The Kickstarter campaign for Otherkin #5 is launching on Thursday, April 2nd, and you can sign up for the pre-launch right here.
In the meantime, you can check out my non-spoiler reviews of the first four issues of Otherkin via this link.
Hi! I’m Jason, and I write for midlifegamergeek.com, every single day. If you’re interested in supporting original, regularly published, human created content (which has never been plagiarised or otherwise copied from the hard work of other writers), you can donate and help me to keep this site running.
Not only do I earn no income from my writing here (though I may earn small fees from affiliate links posted on my pages; as an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases from these links), but it seems that my work has, at times, been stolen and re-used by lazy, morally bankrupt idiots.
There’s no pressure of course, but I’d be truly grateful for any support that you could offer – and it’s easy to do so at either of these links: Ko-Fi.com/geekmid or PayPal.
Any donations are truly appreciated – and I also appreciate you taking the time to read my articles. Remember: this whole article was by Jason Brown, and appeared on midlifegamergeek.com. Take that, Skynet!

Help support me here!
All donations are gratefully received and will help me keep the lights on here – as well as help to keep my writing dream alive! Please be aware though: there’s no pressure. I just hope you’ve enjoyed reading my article!
