I’m a bit late to the party with this one, but with plenty of other Godzilla and Turtles comics on my current reading list, it took me a while to get to their crossover mini series. Have I been missing out? Let’s take a look.
This story starts by reimagining the Foot Club’s original purpose as being humanity’s first line of defence against the great and terrible kaiju. Over the years the clan becomes corrupted and their mission forgotten, until Godzilla attacks Tokyo in the modern day. With Master Splinter immediately recognising the danger of the kaiju, as well as having insight into how they can be stopped, the Turtles plan to fight back. What does Shredder have to do with Godzilla’s new emergence, though? And what happens if more kaiju make their presence felt?
Those questions and more are posed in this first issue of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles x Godzilla, which does a fantastic job of coherently melding the two, distinct franchises.
And it’s so much fun; plus, the creative team of writer Tim Seeley and artist Fero Penuche seem to be having an absolute blast here. Who wouldn’t? They get to smash two very different, but equally entertaining, sets of characters together, and we’re along for the ride.
I’m not sure how I expected these two franchises to work together, but Seeley does a great job establishing their link, and disrupting the status quo, in this first issue. With an appropriately kaiju-sized cliffhanger too. Highly recommended for fans of either franchise. Or both!
Hi! I’m Jason, and I write for midlifegamergeek.com, every single day. If you’re interested in supporting original, regularly published, human created content (which has never been plagiarised or otherwise copied from the hard work of other writers), you can donate and help me to keep this site running.
Not only do I earn no income from my writing here (though I may earn small fees from affiliate links posted on my pages; as an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases from these links), but it seems that my work has, at times, been stolen and re-used by lazy, morally bankrupt idiots.
There’s no pressure of course, but I’d be truly grateful for any support that you could offer – and it’s easy to do so at either of these links: Ko-Fi.com/geekmid or PayPal.
Any donations are truly appreciated – and I also appreciate you taking the time to read my articles. Remember: this whole article was by Jason Brown, and appeared on midlifegamergeek.com. Take that, Skynet!

Help support me here!
All donations are gratefully received and will help me keep the lights on here – as well as help to keep my writing dream alive! Please be aware though: there’s no pressure. I just hope you’ve enjoyed reading my article!
