Another year has passed and I’m pleased with the progress that I’ve made. I’ve maintained the dramatic weight loss that I achieved last year (which I wrote about here), I created a Twitter account – and have had met some absolutely amazing people because of it – and I’ve come so far with my writing, which is most definitely the achievement I’m proudest of.
Having suffered from a number of mental and physical health issues for a number of years, I’d somehow lost confidence in my writing ability. Yet I’ve gone from writing absolutely nothing for more than a decade to writing at least one article a day for the last 250 days; not only that, but my work has been published on numerous other sites too.
This time last year, I would never have thought it possible to have even had a single article published, yet here I am writing without fail every day, with my own website and steadily gathering a body of work being featured elsewhere.
I’m not one for New Year’s Resolutions. My writing wasn’t even on my mind this time last year as something to pursue again. Just like with my fitness regime or giving up alcohol (as I did in 2008), it was as if a switch flipped and I suddenly decided that it was something I had to do. If I can achieve what I have in 2019, in my 40s, then just think what you can do in 2020 if you simply tell yourself to. If you stop thinking you can’t. If you believe in yourself.
You can do it. You got this. Let’s make sure that 2020 brings us everything we want and need. Let’s make it happen – together.
Happy New Year, everyone.
