Available on Mobile & PC – Price: Mobile: Free (ad-supported), PC: $1

Rather ambitiously, John Adams (of Kuneko) is aiming to have twelve mini-games released this year. Kook’s Kitchen is the first of them; it’s a cute little cooking game in which you help a cutely monstrous creature put together recipes with gross ingredients before the octopus in the pot rises up and yanks him in.

It’s all very nicely put together; the general design is lovely, the music – by Kevin Macleod – is great and the theme is appealing; though it’s unlikely to hold the attention of older players for long, it’s a simple, amusingly gross game that younger kids will enjoy – and there’s the added bonus that it’s free. Given how slender the game is in terms of content, the mobile ads can feel a little intrusive – but I do of course understand the need to have them; it’s a free download after all, and the developers do need to find a way to be rewarded for their efforts. Of course, on PC this isn’t an issue (the trade off being that it costs $1, which is more than fair).

It’s a minor quibble in any case. Based on my experience with Kook’s Kitchen, I’m now very much looking forward to seeing what’s next on the menu from Kuneko.

    1. It really is a mini-game…not much to it but the developer has talent 😊
