Comic book publishers Top Cow/Image have been making a big fuss over their upcoming sci-fi series, Metal Society. With 2022 marking Image and Top Cow’s 30th Anniversary, co-founder of Image and CEO of Top Cow, Marc Silvestri, has created a variant cover for the new series – which has been revealed today (and which is featured right here!).
Metal Society – by Zack Kaplan, with art by Guilherme Balbi, colors by Marco Lesko, and letters by Troy Peteri – is a series that’s described as ‘Blade Runner meets Rocky’, taking place in an unusually inverted future, which sees evolved robots resurrecting humans for manual labour. In the midst of this strange reversal of the usual sci-fi future, the first ever human vs robot, MMA-style fight is about to kick off – and it looks like there’s an awful lot more at stake than just winning the fight itself…
Having read the first seven pages of Metal Society, it’s clear that this is a comic that has an awful lot of potential to tell a unique story with some intriguing commentary. The art is gorgeous, with stunning colour work by Marco Lesko that adds a great deal to Guilherme Balbi’s already-impressive illustration.
And guess what? You don’t just have to take my word for it. Top Cow/Image have kindly provided me with the seven page preview of Metal Society to share – so you can see for yourself just how promising the comic is looking; check out the seven page preview below.
Metal Society #1 is being released on the 4th of May 2022, in physical and digital formats – with six variant covers being made available for purchase on day one.
