Season One of Snow Angels ends in this issue, as a wounded Pa does everything he can to protect his two girls – with revelations aplenty coming thick and fast to give us plenty of threads to be picked up on in Season Two.

Jeff Lemire and Jock deliver excellent work once again; last issue’s cliffhanger barely even registering, as far more surprising elements of Pa’s life are revealed. An extended fight scene in this issue makes great use of the stark, frozen backdrop to highlight blood on snow and ice – but the heartbreaking tragedy and revelations are what linger most in the mind.

Thankfully, I’ve discovered Snow Angels quite late – saving myself an agonising wait for the start of Season Two. One thing’s for sure: I can’t wait to get caught up with the fascinating world and the two young siblings trying to survive in it.
