Eric and Diana have been separated from their friends – and while dealing with a terrifying Beholder, they find out that Phaelona may not be who she claims to be. Can they get back to their friends and find out who the imposter is before it’s too late?

Having been a big fan of the daft, cheesy but incredibly fun TV show since it first aired in the mid-80s, I’ve really enjoyed spending time with our displaced group of heroes again.

This mini series has really handled the characters well too, from both a writing and visual standpoint.

Though the GI Joe Saturday Morning Adventures series went to great lengths to properly resemble the cartoon in its visual style, both the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and this Dungeons and Dragons series have had the confidence to do their own thing and become a bit more stylised and modern.

Certainly the Dungeons and Dragons series has been the greatest departure, in terms of its aesthetics, than the TMNT Saturday Morning Adventures series.

Yet it does feel like an authentic continuation of the show; even down to the reveal of who the imposter Phaelona actually is.

With only one issue to go, it’s hard to imagine that the creative team will drop the ball; this has been a wonderfully nostalgic trip down memory lane for me – and a great new adventure for Hank, Sheila, Diana, Presto, Eric, Bobby and Uni.
