The nemesis of our displaced teens, Venger, has revealed himself. With the real Phaelona on their side, can the kids defeat the evil sorcerer – and use their new friend’s abilities to get back home once and for all?

It’s been great to spend more time in the Forgotten Realms with characters who feel like old friends.

It feels like 2023 has been a wonderful year to be a fan of the classic 80s D&D cartoon, with the characters making a cameo in live action thanks to Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves and this excellent IDW mini-series.

Alas, it draws to a close in this fourth issue, which hints at some development for the heroic group and reminds us why we enjoyed being in their company in the first place, back when we fans were kids ourselves.

Though visually it doesn’t try to ape the cheap, animated style of the cartoon – which is something the other Saturday Morning Adventures comic series have done to varying levels of effect – it has great visual flair.

It’s been an absolute joy to continue the adventures of Hank, Sheila, Diana, Presto, Eric, Bobby and Uni; I only hope that they aren’t left in limbo for another thirty odd years!
