The last of the IDW Endless Summer comics – at least, the last one in the order I’ve rea them – I was concerned that my lack of familiarity with the new incarnation of My Little Pony would hamper my enjoyment of this particular comic.

Yet I found this to be another fun entry in IDW’s series of specials, celebrating summer just as it comes to an end.

The story here is that pony Sunny Starscout is down about summer ending, prompting her friends to remind her that she can still have fun and get together with her friends no matter the season.

It’s cute, colourful and charming, with just a dash of poignancy too.

IDW really seem to have hit upon a great theme with their Endless Summer comics – each of which has been really fun and nostalgic in its own way, with different characters getting their chance to shine in each one.

Comics used to be just like this, every month – simple, done in one, straightforward stories that anyone of any age could enjoy.

It’s a shame that’s not the case any more, but we all have to say goodbye to summer sometime, right?

The lesson is, of course , that we can still have fun with what comes next.
