News of perennially popular, fantasy board game Talisman’s 5th Edition has recently dropped, and players can get their hands on the newly streamlined, beautifully updated tabletop title very soon.

The first expansion for the new edition has now been announced too; though players may have been expecting a reprint of one of the many, many big and small expansions that have been released for previous editions of Talisman, fans will instead be able to get their hands on an entirely new experience.

Talisman Alliances: Fate Beckons is the first ever co-op expansion for Talisman, and the impressive production values shown in the gorgeous new fifth edition are clearly carrying over to this new set.

Players will work their way through a campaign composed of five different trials, and when they’ve successfully completed each trial, they get a reward from one of the sealed boxes included in the set.

Though there’s not strictly any Legacy-style elements to the game such as stickers to permanently change the board or other elements, the addition of secret rewards is incredibly exciting, as is just the possibility of taking on the game itself with your friends and family.

I can’t wait to get my hands on the new edition of Talisman, and I’m especially excited to also try out an entirely new way to play; what’s even more impressive is that Talisman is now four decades old, and yet its fifth edition, along with the new expansion, shows that there’s plenty of new space to explore in its already expansive fantasy world.

Talisman: The Magical Quest Board Game, 5th Edition is available for pre-order now on Amazon, and will be available for purchase at most local game stores on October 1, 2024. Talisman Alliances: Fate Beckons pre-orders will be available soon; the release date is still to be announced.
