After getting confused about continuity and tangled up in the reading order of the main Street Fighter series, I thought I’d delve into the spin-off series a bit, which take a step back from the big picture stuff to focus on a single character.

First up is Street Fighter Legends: Cammy, in which British secret agent and head of the Delta Blue anti-terrorist team has a crisis of confidence when one of her colleagues reverts back to her Bison-led brainwashing. Given Cammy’s own history as a blank slate assassin for Bison’s Shadaloo organisation, the betrayal hits hard, and the team have quite a challenge ahead of them in rescuing their friend and colleague.

Written by Jim Zub, the action in this standalone story, which still finds excellent ways to call back to previous continuity, and involve a few other Street Fighter characters along the way too, is relentless and involving. Yes, it goes without saying that it’s hardly the most realistic of spy thrillers, but it’s bloody good fun.

Omar Dogan, one of my favourite Street Fighter artists, illustrates this volume and his work is predictably gorgeous.

I’m a big sucker for Street Fighter related comics (and Cammy herself!), as readers of my reviews will know, and this Cammy series is right up there with the best of them. If you’re a fan, it’s well worth a read!
