Fun fact: when I was writing for video games nostalgia website, Retro Dodo, a reader once emailed to say that they believed I was using AI, and had been plagiarising content from another, lesser known website and passing the work off as my own.
Upon investigating the other site, it became clear that it was in fact them plagiarising my content, running it through some kind of AI assisted filter to change the odd word here and there.
Given how nonsensical and badly written this made the content appear to be, I was somewhat hurt that my immaculately structured and perfectly written content was considered to be stolen instead!
Still, I bring this up because this very site that you’re reading this article on, right now (assuming you are reading it on midlifegamergeek.com of course) is having its content scraped, put through some non-human editing process and being posted elsewhere, images included.
So if you see a photo with my hand in it, of a comic book or a video game from my own personal collection, taken from my own articles, they’re even using those with no changes at all. Bastards.
Anyway, I’ve been working on ways to, if not combat the problem (there really doesn’t seem to be anything I can do to make it stop), at least make them look bloody stupid. That’s why you see a little comic book style text box mentioning my name and website on my images now, and why my standard article ‘signature’ even mentions them.
I thought it was worth explaining for those of you who may be wondering why, when you’re reading an article here, the image also tells you where it came from. Wonder no more!
Anyway, I’ll be back to regularly scheduled content tomorrow. Take care out there (not you, plagiarists!).
Hi! I’m Jason, and I write for midlifegamergeek.com, every single day. If you’re interested in supporting original, regularly published, human created content (which has never been plagiarised or otherwise copied from the hard work of other writers), you can donate and help me to keep this site running.
Not only do I earn no income from my writing here (though I may earn small fees from affiliate links posted on my pages; as an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases from these links), but it seems that my work has, at times, been stolen and re-used by lazy, morally bankrupt idiots.
There’s no pressure of course, but I’d be truly grateful for any support that you could offer – and it’s easy to do so at either of these links: Ko-Fi.com/geekmid or PayPal.
Any donations are truly appreciated – and I also appreciate you taking the time to read my articles. Remember: this whole article was by Jason Brown, and appeared on midlifegamergeek.com. Take that, Skynet!

Help support me here!
All donations are gratefully received and will help me keep the lights on here – as well as help to keep my writing dream alive! Please be aware though: there’s no pressure. I just hope you’ve enjoyed reading my article!
